Alpha Complete, on to Beta + 21 Day Fix

Today I start the second round of the Beach Body workout program, Focus T-25.  The first round, Alpha, a five week program, consists of working out 6 days a week for 25ish mins.   Along with working out, I am also continuing the 21 Day Fix eating program.   Since starting the workout and eating plan six weeks ago, I am down 8 lbs and feel super toned.  I didn’t take a “before” picture because I honestly didn’t think I’d last long enough to take an “after” photo.

Here’s what I can tell you, when I started five weeks ago, I was at the point where I couldn’t close these super cute mint capris.  Even doing the skinny jean dance, they weren’t budging.

Now, I have some room and feel totally relieved, proud, and thankful that I stuck with this program.

You may be thinking, “If she can do it- I can do it!”

Yes, you can!!!  

Here are a few things that I’ve learned throughout these last 5 weeks that can be helpful:

1. Pick a workout that will be effective.  For instance, don’t choose a workout with a lot of yoga if you don’t enjoy yoga.    I chose Shaun T’s, Focus T-25 because I was familiar with his Insanity workouts and know first hand that he can KICK MY BUTT!  So, I knew T-25 was my kind of workout.  I’m not satisfied with a workout until I’m dripping of sweat and literally a hot mess!!

2. Make yourself accountable– It is super helpful if you have someone (significant other, friend, mama, sister) you can talk to who’s doing a similar program.  It’s kinda like you are one another’s cheerleader.  By talking to someone, you hold yourself more accountable to eating properly and working out regularly.   The Hubs joined me in this challenge as well as a good mama friend.  There are numerous FB groups out there where you can find this support; plus, I’m always here for you!!! 

3. Meal Plan– Although it is certainly time consuming, it helps keep you focused and minimizes “cheat” opportunities. The 21 Day Fix eating plan is all about portion control and eating clean.  I’m not going to lie, the first few days were challenging.  Challenging only because I didn’t know how many red, green, yellow containers to eat between breakfast and lunch and have enough for dinner. After a few days, I had my eating “routine” down.  A great piece of advice from a mama friend, plan dinner first then work backwards.  Here are a few of our favorite dishes..

4. Pinterest– I got all my recipes and meal ideas from Pinterest. You can view my 21 Day Fix board, here.  Here are a few pins that we life savers!!

5. Believe in yourself- There were many times where I didn’t want to workout or devour a bag of tortilla chips.  However, I was so impressed with the weight loss and the amount of inches lost, I didn’t want to jeopardize all my hard work.  Call your cheerleader (thanks Deb) or me- I’ll help you get through the rut- You can do it!!!

I have to admit, after the first four-five days on the 21 Day Fix eating plan, it became a lot easier and now it’s second nature.  I would lie if I told you “we don’t cheat.”  We have our ice cream and tortilla chips, occasionally.  However, instead of ordering a medium Oreo (my fav.) cone, it’s now a small cup.

Also, if you know you’re going to cheat (as I did at Brayden’s birthday party. #didntholdback), keep in mind it may take some time to drop those pounds you gain.  I gained 3 lbs and it took me a whole week to lose them!  #neverdoingthatagain

I’ll be taking on Shaun T, Scott and Tania later today as I start Beta… I can’t wait but I’m also a bit intimidated.. I’m sure I’ll have some choice of words for Miss Tania #modifier #hatemotifying.
