"Go to" + Weekend

This has been my "go to" outfit for the past few "going out/looking pretty" occasions.  It's so comfy and I love the sparkle*

Shirt: Macy's
Leggings: Sam's Club (Crazy, right?!)
Boots: Target
Watch: MK
Bangle & Necklace: Premier Designs

We met our friends, Elise and John for dinner at one of our favorite Italian restaurants, Andiamos.  If you love Italian food and enjoy a beautiful and ambiance, I highly recommend Andiamos!

John, Elise (she has beautiful eyes, just not, Sophia and Andrew after dinner!
Elise and John are expecting their first son, Jake, in late May.   Elise looks radiant and has herself an adorable baby bump!  She told me she's enjoying every moment of this special time- even her weird craving for milk! lol.. She has the typical "miss my skinny days" moments but I reassured her it's all worth it in the end, especially when Jake is rockin' his Nike and Jordan kicks! :)

Move Over J. Simps. and J. Hud!

One of the main reasons why I decided to nurse Sophia is so I can lose my baby weight.  Numerous people told me that's how they lost it all!  So, that was my plan.  Nursing=weight loss, AWESOME!

Well... I can't say it worked for me. *&#(^#(#$!

Instead of losing, I gained/maintained.  Don't get me wrong, I did lose some weight after having Sophia.  But, I still had 21 lbs to lose to get back to my pre-prego weight.

I was hoping to be back into my pre-prego clothes before I went back to work in September but that was wishful thinking.  I had to buy bigger shirts and a few pairs of pants; two sizes bigger than my normal size for work.  Yes, I did wear my maternity pants, too! Couldn't help it, they are so comfy!

I knew I had to do something whether it was to exercise or try a diet plan.  I'm embarrassed to say, I didn't want to exercise because I wanted to spend all my time with Sophia.

For those of you who know me, I know your jaw just dropped.  I loved to go to the gym, walk the track, do Insanity Workouts, play softball, you name it!  But, it's true- once you have a baby, EVERYTHING changes!

So, with exercising not being my first option, I figured I'd try the diet route.

J.Simps immediately came to mind.

::I'm going off topic here for a second but, I have to go there:::
I am a fan of Jessica Simpson.  I love her as a signer, actress and designer.  However, she was one of the biggest prego mamas I have ever seen!  Power to her for not caring but my goodness, she made some poor fashion choices that were not flattering.
Ok, I'm done now.

I jumped on Weight Watchers website and did some research.  I could download the app. to my iPhone and iPad and noticed the new point system is "nursing" friendly.  After reading that, I was sold!

The Weight Watchers apps. are so user-friendly. I found it the most helpful when grocery shopping while trying to determine points-per-servings.  You can also search for recipes, scan barcodes for point values, track your weight and measurements, and so much more!

I joined the morning of September 17th (five months after having Sophia) and that afternoon, I bought a bag of Reese's Mini Peanut butter cups. Thanks to Sophia, I now have such a sweet tooth.  I didn't want to deprive myself of what I wanted craved (happened after pregnancy for me) to eat.

So, my first week, I only lost two pounds.  I was a bit discouraged but I figured since I invested $60.00 for a three-month trial, I better stick-with-it for at least three months.

Within my first month, I lost six pounds.  It may not sound like a lot of weight but I definitely felt slimmer.  My clothes were feeling baggy- YAY!

Two months on WW= 13 lbs
Three months on WW= 17 lbs (December, hard month to lose weight)
Four months on WW= 23 lbs (reached my goal weight!)
Five months on WW= 25-26 lbs (happy at this weight and weigh less than before I became pregnant)

I can proudly say following Weight Watchers has helped me get to a comfortable weight and taught me how to eat while nursing.  I also believe getting back to work and establishing a routine contributed to some of my weight loss.

I am going to have a separate post with my favorite WW meals and recipes.  You can get a sneak peak by checking out my WW board on Pinterest.

Andrew also joined WW and he is down 10 lbs in 1.5 months!  You go babe <3

I share my weight loss story with you because it wasn't easy and it is possible to get back to your pre-prego weight.  It took me 9 months after having Sophia, but I did it!  I followed a plan and it worked!  It could work for you!  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask away.

Birchbox Fun

I came across Birchbox after reading one of my favorite beauty blogs, The Small Things Blog, and learning about the products that came in the "monthly" Birchbox.

In a nutshell, A Birchbox is a "monthly delivery of trial-sized samples from both well-known brands and emerging gems. It’s the smart way to try and buy new products."

$10.00 per month. You can cancel anytime, no contract or fees, Yay!

I thought about whether or not this would be something I should invest in.  Usually, I spend at least $10 a month at CVS or Riteaid on a new lip color or eye shadows.

So... I decided to give it a shot since:
1. I can cancel at anytime
2. I get to try great products
3. I can purchase the products
4. It'd be a nice "pick-me-up" to receive a "monthly package" of goodies.
Without further ado, here is February's Birchbox!
It arrived in a hot pink box from USPS.  I threw it out before taking a picture!  Oppsie!!

Welcome note

Love the Birchbox "mini box"

Here are the products:

Product description.

My favorite product of this month's Birchbox is "theBalm cosemetics- Mary-Lou Manizer, three-in-one highlighter, shadow, and all-over shimmer."  It's funny because I've been thinking about purchasing a highlighter- Don't need to now.  Andrew will be happy ;)

This highlight should last a while, actually!

Here's a video on how to apply Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter.

Since I'm on the topic of beauty products- going back to my Sephora post back in January; Out of the products I purchased, I really like, love the Smashbox High Definition Concealer and my Skinny Brush Wrap.  I highly recommend both.  What I love most about the concealer is its easy application!  It so much easier to apply than any other concealer I've owned.  The Skinny Brush Wrap has all the brushes you would need to apply your daily makeup!  Plus, the brushes are super soft and don't shed!
Love the easy to apply tube!

Do any of you receive a Birchbox?

Thanks for reading :)

Just call me Martha

I had quite a productive "cooking" weekend.  Sometimes I get into these moods where I feel like trying something new and I cook, cook, cook!

I was in the mood for breakfast-type foods so I figured I'd give it a shot.  Below are two delicious, mouth watering and "Heather Proof" (easy) weight watcher recipes that I found via Weight Watchers and Pinterest.

*I will post the Pasta Fagioli recipe soon!

Weight Watchers Veggie Frittata, Mama Style
2 points
Prep (for me): 30 mins
Cook: 24 mins
Total: 54 mins (well worth it though)
Serves: 12

  • 1/2 lb (half bag) frozen hash brown potatoes
  • 1 1/4 cup of egg substitute
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon of fat-free milk
  • 1/2 cup broccoli, chopped
  • 1/4 cup of red pepper, fresh, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chives, fresh, chopped
  • 1/4 cup parsley, fresh, chopped
  • 5 slices cooked turkey bacon, cooked and finely chopped
  • ½ cup low-fat shredded cheddar cheese

Do this:
Preheat oven to 350, coat a 12 cup muffin pan.
Cook hash browns as directed on bag (in skillet with cooking oil,  4-7 mins. then flip)

Meanwhile, make the filling: In a medium bowl combine: egg substitute, milk, peppers, onion, chives, broccoli, parsley, bacon and cheese, mix until well blended.

So colorful!
  1. Remove the potatoes from skillet and allow to cool.  Then create a "mini pie crust," lining (no more than 1/2 inch thick) the bottom of each muffin cup.
  2. Pour ¼ of the mixture into the center of each muffin cup.
  3. I topped-off some of them with some extra cheese

  4. Put in oven and bake until muffins are not "runny" (like a cake).   About 20- 25 mins.  (It took me 24 mins.)

Once removed from oven, allow to cool for five minutes. (muffins will shrink just a bit).

ENJOY!  I was so super impressed; they taste delish!  Bon appetite!

*I combined these to recipes to create my own:

Ricotta and Broccoli Frittata Recipe, with Bacon

I haven't mastered how to not have a messy kitchen while cooking.
